Heating for a Florida house that still gets cold
Most of the year the system is cooling. On the nights it is supposed to heat, a heat pump that blows cool air or strips that never kick on is still a no-comfort call. TXT Home Services repairs heat pumps and electric heat strips in Winter Garden, Clermont, and greater Orlando. You hear the price before the work starts.

What Florida heating actually is
It is usually the same outdoor unit that cools the house, run in reverse, plus electric strips inside for the coldest mornings. It is not a boiler and it is not a gas furnace. If the house never gets past lukewarm, the problem is often the reversing valve, the defrost board, a strip that has failed, or a thermostat left on emergency heat.
What to check before you call
Set the thermostat to heat, not emergency heat, and give it time. Emergency heat is the strips alone. It works, and it is expensive if it runs all night. If the outdoor unit is a block of ice and the house is cold, turn it off and call. Forcing it to keep heating on a frozen coil is how the compressor fails.
Questions about heating
Do you install furnaces?
No. The work is heat pumps and the electric strips that back them up. If the house has a gas furnace, we will say so and not guess at it.
Why is the air from the vents cool when it is set to heat?
A heat pump’s supply air is milder than a furnace. Cool air that never warms the room, or air that stays cold after twenty minutes, is a repair. Say how long it has been running.
