Dryer vent cleaning before lint becomes a fire problem
The lint trap catches what it can. The vent run is where the rest packs in. A restricted dryer runs hot, takes longer, and is one of the more common causes of a house fire that starts in the laundry room. TXT Home Services cleans and checks that line for Central Florida homes.

Signs the vent is packed
Clothes take more than one cycle. The dryer stops mid-load. The laundry room gets unusually warm. Clothes come out hotter than they should. Outside, the hood flap barely opens. Any one of those is a reason to book, not a reason to run another load.
How often
Once a year for a typical household. Twice a year if you run the dryer most days, have pets, or a long vent run through the attic. Waiting until it fails costs more than the cleaning, and the failure mode is heat.
What the vent is supposed to do
It carries moisture and hot air outdoors, usually through a metal line that ends in a four-inch hood. Crushed flex, screws catching lint, and a hood buried in mulch all undo an otherwise fine dryer. We look at the path, not just the trap.
Questions about dryer vent cleaning
I clean the lint trap every load. Is that enough?
No. The trap is the first screen. Lint still reaches the hose, the wall, and the roof or sidewall cap. That is the part that overheats.
How often should a Clermont home clean the dryer vent?
At least once a year. Households with heavy laundry should do it every six months.
Can a clogged vent really start a fire?
Yes. Lint is fuel, and a blocked line lets heat and exhaust back up into the cabinet. The U.S. Fire Administration treats dryer vents as a known home fire source.
